Ramsay 8's back to winning ways
The Year 8 boys completed a double over The Misbourne boys, adding to the Year 10 win earlier on in the week. This was going to be the toughest game of the league so far as Misbourne had turned them over last year. The squad was also going to be tested as Sam Winfield and Joseph Woodhouse were both ruled out early on in the morning through injury and illness. Naseem Miah and Munashe Gwasera were both set to make their debuts for the school.
The game got under way and the willingness to put the record straight was clear to see from the Ramsay boys. Pressure was applied straight away to the home side and Ramsay were a try up courtesy of a Shaquille Jack try after some good work from the forwards. Misbourne hit straight back with a try of their own before Jake Cockram went over to take the visitors in 5-10 up.
The second half saw Ramsay push for that all important next try as a try in their favour would put a bit of daylight between the sides. Jake Cockram went crashing over straight away with what he thought was his first try of the game only to be disallowed as he was held up over the line. Cockram did end up getting his forst try of the game a few minutes later, touching down in the corner. Substitute Aaron Knight slotted home the conversion from the touchline giving Ramsay a 5-17 lead. The home side then took control of the game, forcing Ramsay to take camp on their own try line. The relentless pressure paid off and Misbourne brought the scoreline to 10-17 with only 10 minutes to go. More pressure came from Misbourne but the Ramsay forwards grouped together and were inspired by some outstanding defence from Josh Smets. Captain Dan Hucker remained positive throughout, picking the pack up time and time again. This enabled Jack to score his second of the game with a superb long range effort which Knight again converted. Cockram then scored his second of the game with a strong run from the lineout and the game was won. Jack put the icing on the cake with the try of the game. Debutant Miah fielded a kick on half way only to be on the recieving end of a high tackle. As tempers flaired, Jack kept a cool head, took a quick tap and raced past four Misbourne players to touch down fr his hat trick under the posts. Knight again converted taking his points tally to 6 for the game. The final score was 15-33 and Ramsay will now take the momentum to Princes Risborough next Tuesday.
There are good times ahead for the Year 8 boys as if they now beat Risborough next week they will go on to play the final at Adams Park. They also have the Regional Finals to be held at Windsor on the 18th March so the squad is going to be important.
