Ramsay Year 8's Show Promising Signs
The Year 8 rugby squad travelled to Beaconsfield with a much improved squad after a recent interest in training. The Year 8 team has grown dramatically since last year and now we see at least 15 regularly at training.

The game saw many players making their debut for Ramsay including Jae O'Shea, Kyle McKnight, Carl Fassum, Kyle Snelling and Connor Ramsbottom. With such a new squad it was always going to be a game that was to test the Ramsay boys but the game was a closely fought contest.

Captain Jacob Appleton worked tirelessly yet again as did Tom Bates, Josh Parry, Callum Archer and Michael Meir. Beaconsfield went over early on with a good solo effort but missed the conversion leaving the scores at 5-0 after 10 minutes. Ramsay then came back with two outstanding 80 metre breaks from Parry. This gave the away side some good field position and from the ruck Bates powered his way over to level the scores.

Beaconsfield came back again to take the lead sending them in at half time with a 5 point cushion. Ramsay came out after half time with a positive attitude and Lewes Green and Meir made some excellent tackles in the middle of the park to win back the ball for Ramsay. Appleton picked the ball from the back of the ruck, sold the defence a dummy and raced through the gap to bring the scores level. Chris Bullock put the conversion just wide. Beaconsfield had the chance to take the lead but Meir produced the tackle of the game on the line to dislodge the ball from the opposition.

Beaconsfield then scored two break away tries in the final minutes, converting one to make the scores 22-10. The Man of the Match performance came from Parry with some outstanding footwork with the ball in hand and some excellent try saving tackles.
